Fireplaces are so hot!!

So as winter draws ever closer and the evenings become darker and colder as each day passes it seems that we have reached the point where most people have started to turn their heating back on. One of the best feelings is returning home after a hard day’s work, enjoying a wholesome, hearty meal and then snuggling up on the sofa to enjoy the best of the evening’s television in the comfort and warmth of your own home. It’s a great feeling to know that no matter how cold it is outside you are protected by the warmth of your home and one of the best ways of creating that warmth is by lighting the fire!

A fire within a room not only meets a practical need but it also reflects one of the latest trends to emerge from the world of interior design. A fireplace within a living room can provide a focal point for the room and when the fire is lit it can create great atmospheric conditions. A fire can give the room a sense of depth and warmth, particularly on a dark evening.

Some of the older homes throughout Britain are still equipped with their original, cast iron fireplace and often those who buy these homes think they look old fashioned and want them removed. However, these classic fireplaces are now the envy of many people the world over and should not be dismissed quite so hastily, as they are still very much in keeping with the house.

However, for those live in a home which has no fireplace fear not there are still plenty of options available. Nowadays many of us live in very contemporary homes which are equipped with all the latest mod cons. Consequently many of us feel that within this modern setting it is impossible to create the same homely feel that we often experience in older, more classical homes. However, this is simply untrue. In actual fact there are some exquisite fireplaces available which have been designed with the contemporary consumer in mind. It safe to say that there are fireplaces available to suit everyone’s tastes, including those who aren’t quite contemporary but at the same time aren’t quite traditionalists. For those who aren’t keen on the idea of having to continually put logs on the fire or having to clean up everyday then are electric and gas options available, both of which are often believable as real fires.

So go on light the fire and snuggle up on the sofa with a nice cup of coco, a good book or DVD and enjoy the warmth of your own home.

Ah, Proper fires seem like a thing of the past. I get very nostalgic when I’m in a pub with a coal or log fire. It reminds me of my grandma’s house - cosy
